CO-FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR

As creative director and a co-founder of Atlas Branding, Lisa drives the visual concepts for the brands we craft, cultivate and manage. With over 13 years of industry experience, she will be the person to spearhead your creative solutions and help you develop a smart design experience. A perfectionist at heart, Lisa always is looking for inspiration in all things and refining her craft.

As a Navy kid, Lisa spent most of her life moving every two years to coastal cities like San Diego, New Orleans and Virginia Beach. She is a graduate of James Madison University and holds a dual degree in graphic design and corporate communications. When she is not working, Lisa can be found in the kitchen, entertaining friends and playing with her dog Luna.

Dean Peteet

CO-FOUNDER, ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

As account director and a co-founder of Atlas Branding, Dean’s role is to shape the content strategy and answer the “why” questions for the different brands we craft, reposition and build. He also is the person you are most likely to communicate with as he tracks client projects and manages your account. In everything Dean does, he is deliberate, organized and linear.

Dean has called Asheville home since 1988. He attended Montreat College in Black Mountain and has worked in sales and customer service for over 15 years. When he is not working, Dean enjoys playing in his band, collecting music and reading.

Sarah Smalley

DESIGNER

As a designer on the Atlas crew, Sarah enjoys working with clients to build design experiences that help them achieve their goals. Sarah brings her talent and love of illustration, hand-lettering and packaging design to the creative team.

A Nashville, TN native, Sarah is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where she received a BFA in graphic design. Before setting her sights on Atlas, she worked for a design agency in Nashville and an app development firm out of Silicon Valley. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys navigating new music, biking through town and exploring the hiking trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Why should I work with a small studio instead of a large agency?

Clients have become savvy in realizing that even in a large agency, your project typically will be completed by only two people — an account manager and designer. While it may be comforting to know that a company has multiple employees, when it comes to executing the project, you most likely will work with two people while you’re paying a project fee that supports the whole staff.

Atlas is unique as those two people — the account manager and designer are the co-founders of our company. So while we don’t feature a large staff on the website, our small creative team (account manager, two full-time designers, web developer and billing manager) works hard to provide the same strategic thinking and purposeful design that our clients rely on and need to build their businesses.

Why hire a branding agency instead of an advertising or marketing firm?

We see your brand as the big picture. To you, it could be your company’s philosophy, values, reputation and image. For your customers, it is their perception of your business as they experience it and decide if it adds value to their life. Great branding builds connections between the two.

If your business were a house, your brand would be the foundation. You need to have a strong foundation in place before you can renovate.
